Balm Seeds, Inc. offers the opportunity for volunteer teachers to make a huge difference in the lives of children in many third-world countries. Some of those opportunities include teaching jobs in formal classroom settings, while others have a more relaxed structure and are situated in orphanages. Because we place a great deal of emphasis on the safety and level of comfort of our Volunteer Teachers, we do not offer programs that house our volunteers with a host family. Rather, we offer 24 hour security at a destination where you live on your own or paired with another volunteer.
All of our volunteer teaching projects are based in developing third-world countries. As a Volunteer Teacher, your role will be to provide an adaptable education model for school communities in the countries we serve that supports the individual community culture and their learning methods. These opportunities are ideal for recent graduates, retired teachers or those who are on a career break or sabbatical.
Application Process Upon completion of your application Balm Seeds' Admissions Committee will begin a comprehensive evaluation. During this time, we will also process a Federal Background Check and cross-reference your credentials and professional references. Unless otherwise stated, all applicants should hear back from an Admissions Committee Member within two to three weeks of submission of their completed application packet. If your application is approved and you are accepted into Balm Seeds' Teacher Volunteer Program, you will be sent an Acceptance Packet. This packet will include information regarding upcoming training programs, facts about the school/orphanage that we are currently supporting and a schedule of expected travel dates and the length of your assigned volunteer project.
Selection Process Balm Seeds, Inc. is dedicated to providing qualified volunteer teachers to those schools/orphanages that we support. We also strive to place our volunteers in an environment where we believe they are most likely to succeed. That being said, Balm Seeds’ Volunteer Teacher Program not only serves to enrich the lives of students in the schools/orphanages with whom we partner, but to also provide an enriching and fulfilling personal experience for our volunteers. Because of our dedication to providing a quality education, we have specific professional requirements. Our Organization not only seeks applicants who show a commitment to teaching and international development, but also those who have, or will soon, graduate from a reputable college/university. If you are a recent graduate or are currently enrolled in teaching program at a college/university and have not had prior teaching experience, a certified copy of your transcript will be required.
